MISTAKES WERE MADE, BUT NOT BY ME

Rabbi Steven Carr Reuben, Ph.D.
Yom Kippur 2008/5769

A man observed a woman in the grocery store with a three-year-old girl in her basket. As they passed the cookie section, the child asked for cookies and her mother told her, “No.” The little girl immediately began to whine and fuss and the mother said quietly, “Now Julie, we just have half of the aisles left to go; don’t be upset. It won’t be long.”

My Runaway Emotions Will Not Run Away With Me
- Rosh Hashanah 2008
-- Rabbi Sheryl Lewart

“Look mom, this is my room,” my daughter Judy said from the doorway of a large bedroom boasting a bay window that offered a sweeping view of Jaffa street as it curves towards the bus station.   Changing Our Words, Changing Our Lives
Rabbi Jon Hanish
Yom Kippur Kol Nidre 2008

Take a look at these robes! Can you believe they make us dress like this? Come on, it’s a bit ridiculous, don’t you think? When was the last time you went to a synagogue service and the clergy were prancing around looking like they just walked through a jar of fluff? I feel like a giant marshmallow.

  EVERYTHING BREAKS
Rabbi Jonathan Hanish
Rosh Hashanah Sermon 2008 / 5769

After my father’s tour of duty in the Pacific...
After the beach had been stormed in Normandie...
After the war was finally over...
After SO many things were broken, SOME to be repaired, SOME to be tossed aside, SOME to be replaced and SOME to be forgotten forever, my 24 year old father decided to take a trip, a vacation to Europe.
